VAILLANCOURT

The Vaillancourt originals are made in the Vaillancourt Studios in Sutton, Mass. Cast in either an antique chocolate or ice cream mould, 16 Vaillancourt artists recreate Judi Vaillancourt's design by hand painting in artist oils and then antiquing the pieces over a three week period of time. Vaillancourt Folk Art has been making chalkware originals since 1984 in their Sutton studios. The moulds that Vaillancourt Folk Art use were made between 1830 and 1950. The most intricate molds were made by master mould maker Anton Reiche of Dresden Germany. Yet many other makers are represented in the Vaillancourt collection such as LeTang in Paris, Vormenfabriek in Holland, H Walters of Berlin, J.G. Laurosch, Heris or Hornlein of Germany or closer to home, Jaburg Bros. and Eppelsheimer of New York of Schall & Co of Philadelphia. The craftsmanship of these antique moulds give Vaillancourt the uniqueness that transforms them into a pure American classic. |
